Join the New Choral Society

Auditions are held annually during the summer to fill any openings within the chorus. We do not have openings in every section every year, however, we are always happy to hear interested singers in the event space becomes available.

What to Expect

You will be asked to sing for our Artistic Director, Dr. John T. King, who will lead you through vocal exercises to showcase the range and size of your voice, and you will be asked to sight-read a brief passage. You do not need to bring a prepared piece. The audition process will take approximately 15 minutes.

Commitment

  • Rehearsals are Monday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 PM at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church (6 Greenacres Avenue, Scarsdale, NY) which is easily accessible via MetroNorth at the Hartsdale Train Station

  • We perform 3 concerts a year in October, December and April/May

  • Singers are expected to attend rehearsals regularly and are allowed 2 excused absences per concert cycle

  • Singers are expected to learn the music and arrived prepared each week

  • No dues are charged and singers are provided with one (1) complimentary ticket per concert cycle

  • Sheet music is provided for singers, and black choral folders are available for purchase at a minimal cost
