In keeping with its committment to help those in our community at large who are in need, the New Choral Society has joined the Great American Bake Sale to support Share Our Strength and the fight against childhood hunger in the U.S.
At the upcoming performances of Bach's "Mass in B Minor", May 16 and 17, baked goods will be on sale, and 100% of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to Share Our Strength. In order to reach our goal we are reaching out to our community of music lovers.
If you would like to support the New Choral Society's efforts through the bake sale by donating an item for the sale, please contact the office at info@newchoralsociety.org and put "Bake Sale" in the subject line. If you would like to make a monetary donation, click here The Arts Help Bake Sale: Bach and Baked Goods and click the button above the team name to donate online.
If you have any questions, or would like more information about the Bake Sale or how you can help, you can call the New Choral Society office at 914.725.1678, M-Th between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
In December, the New Choral Society piloted a project to help feed the hungry and homeless in Westchester County. Audience members who attend the upcoming Messiah concerts on December 5 and 7, 2008, joined forces with the chorus and orchestra to bring a canned item or non-perishable food item, to the concert. The response was tremendous and over 200 lbs. of food was delivered to the food pantry and soup kitchen run by the Union Baptist Church in New Rochelle, NY, a member of the Westchester Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless.
The New Choral Society wishes to thank all those who made this initial outreach effort such a great success! Be sure to check back here for future opportunities to help those in need through "The Arts Help".
